Description

 

This person oversees and administers the Departments comprehensive occupational health and safety program including emergency preparedness, safety training and environmental programs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements protecting employees, contractors, the general public of its work areas.  As well develops implements and administers safety policies, procedures and directives for the Department and evaluates the effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, or related degree, Certified Safety - Occupational or Utility Professional, or five years of equivalent work experience. Minimum 3 years working safety training experience, knowledge and understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.  Also,  competent person, trenching/excavation, shoring, fall protection, forklifts, CPR/First Aid, blood borne pathogens, minimum approach distance, hoist/sling  confined space, PPE, forklift operations, Class III Asbestos O&M etc. General understanding of utilities (gas, water, electric, and wastewater) with applicable safe work practices. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the internet. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license, and is subject to 24-hour call.
